First Responders

It is hoped that, together with help from members of the public in Wymeswold, a team of fully trained volunteers will be able to respond in emergencies, to patients suspected of suffering from a heart attack or cardiac arrest. Some individuals have already expressed an interest in the scheme, but we need more volunteers to maximise the number of hours we can provide the cover to assist the East Midlands Ambulance Service. With increased demands being placed on the Ambulance Service, there are sometimes delays beyond their control, in response times for ambulances attending to patients suffering from such complaints.

The First Responder Scheme will hope to fill that gap in attending to deal with the patient whilst awaiting the arrival of the ambulance staff. Full training will be provided to suitable volunteers which be free of charge. Full support will be provided by East Midlands Ambulance Service Staff. If you are interested in finding out more about the scheme and how to volunteer there will be a meeting at Wymeswold Village Hall on Friday 10th January 2014 at 7:30pm. If you are interested in attending the event or for more information please call Paul on 07971 294167.
